Every Day Maths

Our Every Day Maths course is designed to help you with Functional Skills in Mathss. Not everyone managed to get their Maths qualification when they were at School or you might have forgotten some of the things learned so long ago so this is an ideal opportunity for you to come along, check your starting point and get your own plan to start your Maths learning with Communicators.

You will learn: Numbers, Measuring Shape & Space and Handling different kinds of Data. You will be able to help your children with their home work or get on at work. Many employers require you to have a good standard of Maths in the workplace.

Learning more about maths will also help you with day to day functions from managing your money, calculating discounts in shops and being able to use a calculator effectively. Your Tutor will help you the preparation for assessment/test and help you gain a recognised qualification.

You will also be able to socialize with others who are also learning Functional Skills Maths and share your experiences.

Who is suitable?

There are no prior qualifications needed to attend this course. We will check your starting point with a short assessment at the beginning of your course and tell you which level you need to start on. This may be Entry 3, Level 1 or Level 2

This course is suited for Anyone who:

  • Would like to brush up, improve their Maths
  • Want to help their children with homework
  • Gain a recognized qualification to help with employment
  • Need entry to University or other College programme
  • Want to get on in their job
  • Would like to calculate their bills and budget their income

What You will Learn

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Numbers
    • Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide
    • Fractions, Decimals, Percentage
  • Measure Shape and Space
    • Money, Time, Temperature
    • Length, Distance, Weight
    • Perimeter Area, Volume
    • Angles and shapes
  • Handling Data
    • Collecting and presenting information
    • Average, Mean, Range & Probability

Additional Information

You will need to bring the following to enrol on the course:

  • National Insurance Number
  • Proof of residency e.g. passport, Driving licence, utility bill with address etc.
  • We can be flexible with the days you learn
  • Courses start weekly
  • Courses run throughout the year

What's Next?

At the end of your course your Tutor will explain how you can progress to the next Level in Maths until you reach Level 2.

You will also be able to progress to other courses that we offer for example English, Work Skills, Customer Service, Basic Computers or higher level computers such as ITQ Level 1 or Level 2.
