Work Skills

Our Work Skills courses is designed to help you with identifying your current skills, experience and qualifications and matching those to a suitable and realistic job opportunity. The course will also help you to search and apply for a job, prepare for interview, make sure your CV is fit for purpose and will survive the sifting process.

You may be at a turning point in your career where you need to find out more about different work sectors. You can take part in a range of ‘taster’ sessions to help you identify what is right for you.

You will learn:

We will help you to take part in short discussions which will also help you in an interview or work setting. You will learn in small groups or work withing our virtual learning platform with very experienced Tutors who will provide you resources, support your learning to make sure you have the confidence to apply for work.

You will also be able to socialize with others either in the classroom or on our virtual platform, who are also learning Work Skills and share your experiences.

Together we can make your learning journey enjoyable.

Who is suitable?

There are no prior qualifications needed to attend this course. We will check your starting point with a short assessment at the beginning of your course and tell you which level you need to start on.

This course is suited for Anyone who:

  • Help and support to find the right job
  • Support with building their CV
  • Assistance with searching and applying for a job
  • Take part in taster sessions to identify what work is right for them
  • Understand clearly what employers are looking for
  • Gain a recognized qualification to help with employment

What You will Learn

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Search efficiently for a job
  • Complete application forms
  • Construct a suitable CV
  • Look at what employers are looking for
  • Check you have the skills needed for the job
  • Understanding your rights and responsibilities
  • Safety working online

Additional Information

You will need to bring the following to enrol on the course:

  • National Insurance Number
  • Proof of residency e.g. passport, Driving licence, utility bill with address etc.
  • We can be flexible with the days you learn
  • Courses start weekly
  • Courses run throughout the year
  • Courses also run remotely through our virtual learning platform

What's Next?

At the end of your course your Tutor will explain how you can progress to the next Level or other courses that will help you develop skills for the job you are looking for.

You will also be able to progress to other courses that we offer for example Maths, English, Customer Service, Basic Computers / digital skills or higher level computers such as ITQ Level 1 or Level 2.
